Article Abstract
The adverse neurologic consequences of cocaine ingestion have been well documented in adults and adolescents.Only a few reports exist in which the neurologic effects of cocaine in infants are described. In each of these cases, the infants acquired the drug from the maternal circulation during gestation, through the act of breast-feeding,or through consumption of breast mild.Reports of infants who ingested cocaine without maternal involvement do not exist. An infant is described in whom generalized tonic- clonic seizures developed after inadvertent ingestion of cocaine in her home. The ramifications of such a clinical appearance on diagnosis and treatment are discussed.
